Abstract: THE ROLE OF TAX ACCOUNTING IN TRANSFER PRICING DISPUTES

This study examines the role of tax accounting in transfer pricing disputes among multinational companies in Lagos. The objectives are: to assess the importance of accurate transfer pricing documentation, identify the challenges faced by tax accountants, and evaluate the impact of transfer pricing disputes on business operations. A survey design was used, with data collected from 250 tax professionals, derived using Taro Yamane's formula. A case study of a multinational company with operations in Lagos provided comprehensive insights. The reliability coefficient score was 0.88. Findings show that accurate transfer pricing documentation is crucial for compliance and dispute resolution. Challenges include complex regulations and the need for specialized expertise. Recommendations include enhancing training for tax accountants and developing clearer guidelines for transfer pricing documentation to minimize disputes.
